January 2009

2009 promises to be an exciting year! I have been working on my typescript for Baico Publishing, who will soon be publishing Regaling on College Street. They have provided me with the cover art for the novel, which I am very proud to share with all of you, my loyal readers!

I will be submitting the novel for inclusion in Writer's Festivals throughout the country and look forward to giving as many readings as I can to promote the novel during the next year. Keep checking the site for more information and a release date for Regaling on College Street!

December 2008

The last few months have been very exciting, with my first reading, two radio interviews and now I have been contacted by Baico Publishing about publishing my first novel! All these years I've spent working hard and perfecting my craft are beginning to pay off!

Conversations and negotiations are still just beginning, so I can't give you any details yet, but once I know more I will write a blog post and provide some details.

In the meantime, I have written a new blog post about TV and Movies and added another excerpt to Reading Our Contemporaries. This story is by Max Hortensen and it details the events of a ski trip he took with Sharon Woodhouse. It is appropriately titled, Racing With Testosterone.

October 2008

My October 2nd, 2008 reading at Max Middle's AB Series was a success, despite a few bumps in the road! Read all about it my newest blog post!

In other news, my multimedia presence expanded with Max Middle's invite to read, including scoring an interview with CHUO's Mitchell Caplan and capping my reading with an interview with CBC's Adrian Harewood. Keep watching this site for possible snippets from both interviews (I'm still in the process of clearing the rights and figuring out the best way to stream them).

My YouTube video has hit a speedbump, but with a quick rethink and some extra time, I hope to be able to post it soon.

September 2008

I am pleased to announce that I will be reading at Max Middle's AB Series on October 2nd, 2008. The reading will take place at the Ottawa City Hall Art Gallery. Doors open at 7:30 PM and the reading commences at 8 PM.

Max Middle has also kindly arranged for some media notices to appear. The first notice has appeared in the Ottawa Citizen and can be seen on the canada.com website.

I look forward to seeing you at the reading.

August 2008

To celebrate the summer, my website has been updated with an all new, user-friendly, easy-on-the-eyes template, called darkeffect.

I've also made considerable edits to the content of my site, refining the excerpts to bring out the drama and stimulate more interest in what came before and what will come after. I have added introductory pages for both the Regaling on College Street and Reading Our Contemporaries novel excerpts.

I also realized my titles left something to be desired, so I have retitled some of my excerpts. I hope that, like me, you find these new titles much more exciting than the previous ones.

In other exciting news, I've begun shooting a short YouTube film with a friend of mine from my MA years at Carleton University who has written some introductory notes about myself and my craft for the About the Author section of this site. I don't want to spill the beans too much, but I am really looking forward to the final product.

Keep watching this site for the final product, along with a video of the reading I will be doing at The Max Middle A B Series in the coming months.

April 2008

This month I've added a new blog post and updated my biography.

February 2008

I have added Setting it Straight to my Reading Our Contemporaries excerpts. In this excerpt, Julie McSwire takes a look at the web of relationships she encounters during her MA year.

November 2007

I have decided to include excerpts from my latest novel, Reading Our Contemporaries, as part of my zine. It takes place during the course of an MA English program and is written from the point of view of various protagonists who suffer through their own romances, conflicts and ups and downs (both academic and personal).

I am introducing web readers to this novel through Frank BeCharses, a brilliant but philandering student who runs into a bit of conflict with one of his colleagues. Take a look at the Memories to Forget excerpt to find out what happens.
