Jackie's Heartbreak (Excerpt)
Although the sun shone brightly through her window on this early July evening, her fun was over for this summer. Tears filled her eyes as she desperately reached for the apple pie in front of her. She looked timidly around her living room, knowing that the scarcity in the room was now the normal. How this house was such a forum of companionship and love a few months ago. Now she could feel it creaking.
An hour later her sister, Megan, used her key to open the front door of the house. Megan set her shoes just beside the door and walked into the living room. She did not like the site in front of her: her little sister spread out on the couch, desperately slicing large pieces of pie and downing tequila shooters. However, to this sad and lonely soul, the fact that her sister was now home was a huge sigh of relief.
-- This was supposed to be such a beautiful reunion evening for me and Dave. I was planning to surprise him with dinner and everything.
The tears alarmed Megan.
-- So what happened to spoil your evening babe?
-- All that time Dave was supposedly on business in Los Angeles he was with his secretary. Now she’s pregnant with his baby.
Megan’s eyes bulged.
-- Get out! You found all this out tonight?
