Reading Our Contemporaries Introduction
Some years after his M.A. in English, Perry Shawman tries to legitimize his friendships with his Contemporaries. However, he can't. And, as the nine narrators that follow him demonstrate, they can't either. So, why did the entire program go to Danny's Den every Monday night of the first term? Was it to support the enthusiastic Dr. Jackberg, or did legitimate friendships exist amongst this group at the time, and they were too lazy to keep them up? The reader ultimately decides the answer.
